The role and what we are looking for

We are looking for a skilled IT Systems Administrator to join Capricorn’s technology team to provide support across all aspects of our IT infrastructure. This role will provide operational support and will be a first responder for Service Desk escalations. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and a dedication to delivering exceptional customer service.

Key Accountabilities

• Provide Level 2/3 technical assistance to end-users by resolving escalated issues related to hardware, software, and applications.

• Provide 1st level support coverage for IT Service Desk where required.

• Diagnose and resolve technical issues, ensuring minimal disruption to user productivity.

• Collaborate with the Service Desk team to provide mentorship and guidance to assist in solving complex technical problems.

• Assist in training Service Desk analysts on new technologies and troubleshooting techniques

Infrastructure Management and Maintenance

• Manage and configure VMWare server and VDI virtualised environments (vCenter, ESXi, Horizon), ensuring reliability and optimal performance.

• Deploy, configure and maintain Microsoft Operating Systems and services including Sever (2016, 2019, 2022), SQL (2016, 2017, 2019) and Active Directory (DS, DNS, DHCP)

• Respond to alerts and incidents generated by monitoring and cyber security alerting systems (PRTG, Splunk, LogInsight, CheckPoint, Azure)

• Administer user accounts, permissions, and access controls across on premise and cloud systems and applications.

• Monitor and maintain the health and performance of IT systems, servers, infrastructure hardware.

• Apply software updates, patches, and configurations as needed.

Skills, Knowledge and Attributes

• Create and maintain documentation for common IT procedures, troubleshooting steps, and best practices.

• Contribute to the development of the internal knowledge base, empowering Service Desk agents to handle common issues.

• Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency enhancements within the IT support workflow.

• Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies to provide innovative solutions.

• Sound communication skills, with the ability to effectively manage face to face & remote stakeholders.

• Experience in managing Microsoft environments including Active Directory (DS, DNS, DHCP), Office 365 and Azure AD.

• Analytical and structured approach to problem solving and ability to work independently
