Role Purpose

The Travel Consultant is responsible for the sale and coordination of travel arrangements for customers while providing information, advice and booking services.

Responsibilities

• Provide literature and information to clients concerning local, interstate and international travel routes, accommodation, fares, tours, local customs and travel regulations.

• Discuss client requirements and advise on suitable options.

• Plan, prepare and cost itineraries (travel plans) for clients.

• Make travel, accommodation and related bookings.

• Confirm booking and notify clients of luggage limits and insurance, medical, passport, visa, and currency requirements.

• Enter consumer detail, travel details, account details and notes in the travel system and maintain 100% accuracy.

• Issue tickets for travel, accommodation vouchers, invoices and all relevant documentation within deadline timeframes.

• Collect payments and maintain records of transactions.

• Assist with changes to travel arrangements and bookings when required, including dispute resolution.

• Utilise the sale of the Travel Company’s preferred product range

• Check Member detail and credit status via the relevant Capricorn system.

Skills, Knowledge and Attributes

• A competent understanding of a travel software program used in the travel industry (Galileo and CCTE required).

• Strong sales focus.

• Good communication and organisational skills.

• Strong customer focus and respect for customers external and internal and team members.

• Good problem-solving ability along with a focus on attention to detail.

• Strong computer and written skills.

• Able to work as an individual and as part of a team.

• High level of personal presentation.

• Able to work under pressure effectively while utilising time management skills.

• Ability to meet business demands, deadlines and timeframes as they arise.

Experience

• A strong understanding of the travel industry, legislative requirements and industry standards.
