Role Purpose
As a Market Analyst, you will be at the forefront of gathering and analysing market, industry, and category data. Your insights will help us identify trends, understand customer preferences, and assess competitive positioning within the Capricorn Preferred Supplier function. Your work will provide actionable insights that drive our business strategy, product development, and marketing efforts.
Key responsibilities
Strategic planning
• Provide data-driven insights to support business strategy and identify category and industry opportunities.
• Develop and maintain a commercial model database, including product/service margins and associated fees.
• Forecast market demand and pricing strategies, recommending adjustments to optimize revenue and growth.
Market Research & Analysis
• Monitor industry trends, competitor activity, and market shifts to identify opportunities and threats.
• Analyse data to discover new categories, markets, and business opportunities.
Reporting & Insights
• Design and implement a category and industry data framework to structure sales, pricing, performance and industry data
• Develop and manage centralised data repositories
• Deliver actionable insights and reports to leadership and teams
Skills, Knowledge, and Attributes
• Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Excel, SQL, Tableau, Power BI, or similar.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
Experience
• 3-5+ years of experience in market research, business intelligence, or data analysis.
Qualifications
• Tertiary qualification in business, marketing, economics, statistics, or a related field.
• Experience in the automotive or financial services industries (ideal).
• Knowledge of statistical analysis and predictive modelling.
• Familiarity with CRM systems like Salesforce or HubSpot and digital marketing analytics (ideal).
